Pursuing Happiness

How many people are trying to be happy and do everything in life, they leave their children, their husbands and wives, they sacrifice part of their lives and migrate to another countries looking for “happiness” which unfortunately they don’t find. The question is, why don’t they find happiness?

Last week while I was talking to a young man of 27 years old, he told me that he had left everything behind so that he could find happiness. He wanted to have a better life and left his family, children, sold everything that he had and came to New Zealand with his wife. With tears rolling down his face, he said “Pastor I am here for 9 years and during these 9 years I lost many things. I’m divorced now for 2 years, I’m depressed, I have pains all over my body, I’m sad, with debts to pay, and I feel very unhappy. I tried to kill myself twice in this year of 2009…”

Maybe the story of his life is just like yours.
Then I could realise that many people still doesn’t understand when the Lord Jesus said, “Without Me you can do nothing…” Jesus was not saying that you can be happy or try to be happy with your own strength – no. He was assuring that without Him it is impossible for the human being to reach the complete happiness. No one can be completely happy without Jesus. Many people are happy in their health, but their marriage is destroyed. Many people have a lot of money, but they suffer in their health. Many people have a happy marriage, but their financial life is destroyed. Many people have money, but their spiritual life is terrible, they can’t sleep at night, etc…

We all need this Light that can enlighten out ways, a light that guides us to the right direction so that we can reach our goals. Without this Light, or this guiding star, we would surely try but would never be able to reach the realisation of our dreams. We would reach nowhere.

It’s just like the 3 wise men who were led by a star guiding them to the Lord Jesus. (Read Matthew 2:1-12) I believe that God sent the star to guide them to the right place, at the right time, in the right way. Not letting them to get lost, and they found what they were looking for.

Dear reader, God sent the Lord Jesus just like that guiding star, like the true light which dispels all darkness. The Lord Jesus said, “…I am the bright Morning Star.” (Revelation 22:16)

So let this Star which is the Lord Jesus guide you and lead you to the true peace, love, prosperity, health and so on, may the light of the Lord Jesus make you encounter the true happiness which does not start from what we need or what we search, but which starts from within us.

Even though if everything is going wrong with you for now and before, the year of 2010 will be a year of victories and realisation of your dreams. Forgive, and you will be forgiven. Forget the past and look forward. Believe in your dreams, live it, and seek it.
I believe that you know what to do now… “Seek the light of this guiding star.” Seek the Lord Jesus and you will find the true happiness.
